A 70 sqm apartment in the heart of the Navigli in Milan, born from the desire of architect Roberta Borrelli to create a studio house that could combine in a single space her private and professional life and at the same time be a manifesto of her work.
The house is characterized by three areas that thanks to the double height see different functions merge: study, living, relax and bedrooms.
Everything starts from the idea that the house is not only a place to live and the studio is not only a place to work, but spaces that must offer us calm, energy and inspiration.
“It must be highlighted that living and working for me are more or less the same thing, both are constantly intertwined in my life, that’s why I wanted a space built around my creativity but also my family.
The project highlights the importance of defining spaces of relationship: if the house was the place in which to “do everything” then the management of the spaces of relationship not only with the outside but also with ourselves becomes indispensable.
Hence the division into public, private and secret spaces.
Poetica apt., presented in the occasion of fuorisalone 2022, perfectly reflects my personality and the branding of makeyourhome, playing with neutral colors and raw material effects.
Simplification and craftsmanship come together to create environments with a common thread, but with different characters.
The resin creates a continuous surface, a box effect in which the textures of wallpaper and fabrics intervene to determine the specific sensations that are wanted to be created in the space.
In the bedroom the kintsugi effect is reminiscent of the theme of reconstruction, definitely strong for this period. The color is unique but declined in material variations, the greige, not necessarily banal.
The living area on which the kitchen opens is essential: the feeling is to enter a Milanese living room of another time, with velvet curtains and old ribs recovered.
The kitchen disappears into a rigorous parallelepiped in the centre of the room while, at the side, a cabinet conceals the sink.
Here the star is Mina’s Tide in Baked Inox, a kitchen sink top group with a mixer tap and pull-out hand shower, which perfectly matches the light oak interior structure.
Material contrasts also in the bathroom where we find the walls entirely covered with tatami-effect wallpaper, resin shower and dove grey sanitary ware. A minimalist japandi style in which the Baked Inox is undoubtedly a happy and immediate response. I wanted something that would be soft and not cold, a feeling that steel often returns.
For the bathroom, my selection fell on Corsivo by Mina, a series with thin spout, very linear and comfortable declined for the wall basin, bidet and shower unit.
One of the things that I particularly appreciated from the collaboration with Mina Rubinetterie was undoubtedly the tailoring of the product, evident in the possibility of also having the drain plate for the toilet in coordination with the taps.
