An old apartment from the 1960s located in the city center which has never been restored, becomes the opportunity to completely renovate a space and to make it the first home.
Redesigning a space and taylor it, with high quality materials and important collaborations, becomes an chance to realise the concepts of wellbeing, self-awareness and quality of life that must always be at the centre of every project: this is the experience of architect Violetta Breda, founder of Architempore, and architect Gianluca Ardiani.
“CasaCasa is a project of heart, a true landmark for our clients, entirely planned and created in my studio Architempore” says Violetta “It’s our first apartment, designed for two: the archetype of a house”.
70 square meters, two terraces, a kitchen open on the living room and a bathroom. Here is the architect’s first-person narrative about the bathroom of CasaCasa.
|| The bathroom project: colors in palette.
The bathroom of CasaCasa is the combination of my tastes and those of my boyfriend, in a very uniform way: whereas the living reflects him more and the bedroom represents me better, the bathroom is basically the two of us put together.
The color palette of CasaCasa is composed of blue, turquoise and cream tones, which alternate dark and bright shades in contrast with each other; and the bathroom makes no exception.
The petrol blue resin coating covers the whole bathroom, shower included, while a Palladian-style porcelain stonewall breaks the plain color and gives brightness to the environment, defining the washbasin and the sanitary ware.
|| The stainless steel taps
In this game of neutrals and blues, that of taps was a fundamental decision.
The Stiriana collection with its brushed stainless-steel finish proved to be the best choice, with a contemporary and elegant look. Stiriana is a complete and flexible collection of bathroom taps in stainless steel, with a great variety of articles for the basin, the bidet, the shower and the bathtub; for our bathroom, we selected:
A wall-mounted basin mixer
A deck-mounted bidet mixer
A two-ways mixer for the shower
A convenient hand shower
A 40 cm shower head with horizontal arm.
A detail we finally added was the cover plate for the flush tank with the same finish, which provides the bathroom with a coordinate look of the metal parts.
|| The walk-in shower
The shower is the strong point of the whole bathroom, as well as it represents a weak spot: when we bought the apartment, my biggest wish was to have a bathtub, whereas my boyfriend absolutely desired a shower.
Long story short, we finally made a compromise, considering the existing plumbing system also, and we designed a large walk-in shower, which could satisfy my dream of a relaxing bathroom, worthy of a real spa.
Three elements make the shower “wow”:
There is no actual shower tray
It’s got a 2 meters long glass wall
It has a 40 cm rainfall shower head
In order to take a spa-like shower into my house, the choice of the shower head was decisive.
The latter offers a truly unique and pleasant shower experience and, I must admit, manages to make up for the lack of a bathtub.
Thanks to MINA’s technical support, we estimated the water flow rate necessary for the plumbing system and we opted for a 40cm diameter, perfectly sized in the shower, which allows it to be used as a couple. The mixer has two ways, thus giving you the opportunity to use both the hand shower and the shower head and, obviously, to regulate the water flow and its temperature. Useful tip: place the mixer at the entrance of the shower so as to avoid taking a freezing rain while turning on the water!
For this project Violetta | Architempore has chosen:
Wall mounted set: mixer and diverter 2 ways, support for handshower, handshower TYPHA, flexible, arm for showerhead L.400 and shower head Ø200 – stainless steel AISI 316 L
